A special court on Monday refused to allow film actress Parveen Babi to tender evidence against actor Sanjay Dutt for his alleged involvement in the 1993 bomb blast case.
Designated judge P.D. Kode rejected Babi’s request on the ground that she had not deposed before despite being summoned thrice. After perusing the documents filed by her in the court, the judge observed there was no evidence to show Dutt's involvement in the case.
Babi, the judge observed, had also made allegations against the CBI and international secret agencies but could not substantiate her claim. He directed the Registrar to warn Babi against sending such letters to the court and making claims not backed up by evidence.
The judge made it clear that no such petitions would be entertained in future and that the court would take a serious view of wild allegations made against anyone without any material.
He upheld the argument of Public Prosecutor Ujjwalnikam that Babi's application be dismissed as she had failed to produce evidence against Dutt.
