Controversial film Girlfriend has been banned from screening in Amritsar and surrounding areas.
District Magistrate Raminder Singh issued an order on Thursday banning the screening of the film in Amritsar district, saying the film could disturb law and order.
The film was to be released in cinema halls in the city Friday.
Singh said he had received a representation from the local unit of the Shiv Sena, asking for a ban on the film as it was against Indian values.
Earlier, the Shiv Sena also led demonstrations against the film in other parts of the country.
