He may be a South Indian star but Rajnikant made an impact in Delhi with his latest release Sivaji hit theatres in the capital to packed houses.
The Tamil film, which has seen a lot of hype in the run-up to its release, is being shown in two theatres in Delhi and two in the satellite township of Gurgaon and a few cinema halls Noida and Ghaziabad, also on the capital's outskirts.
Subtitled for the convenience of non-Tamil audiences, tickets for shows of the film, directed by Shankar , have been sold out till Wednesday.
The audiences, comprising mostly of South Indians with a fair share of North Indians, cheered, clapped and whistled regularly as they watched the superstar on the big screen.
"Oh, Rajni is great. His dialogues are superb. It is pure magic," said a die-hard Rajni fan, adding that he was confident the movie would be a superhit.
A R Rahman 's music is very good. But the film is very different from Bollywood films and I found it to be sort of unrealistic," said another fan, who watched the first show in a theatre in Ghaziabad.
