HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | HAPPENINGS When Shilpa Shetty was detained at Mumbai airport26th June 2007 09.00 IST By Agencies Bollywood star and Celebrity Big Brother winner Shilpa Shetty recently had a nightmarish experience at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. The incident took place when Shilpa was set to depart for the UK to attend the IIFA Awards. 
Shilpa was detained at the airport by the emigration authorities, who said that a ‘look-out notice' had been issued in her name and they could not allow her to travel. A look-out notice is generally issued in criminal cases and is circulated at the country's exit points, like airports, to prevent the person from moving out of the country. In Shilpa's case, it was issued by a Rajasthan court in an obscenity case following the famous kiss with Richard Gere. The actress had already moved the Supreme Court and managed to get relief from notice but the airport authorities simply refused to listen to Shilpa. After a delay of about two hours, they finally allowed Shilpa to talk to her father and get a copy of the Supreme Court directive. Her father then rushed to the airport with the notice, only after which Shilpa was allowed to leave the country.
