Irrfan Khan wants to do a variety of roles

After giving great performances in films like 'Haasil', Maqbool and The Namesake , talented actor Irrfan Khan , who will soon be seen with Shah Rukh Khan in his next movie, says his best is yet to come.

Irrfan, who got international attention with the films like 'The Warrior' and 'Mighty Heart', is quite upbeat about his roles in forthcoming movies and says that his hunger for challenging roles will never die.

"I want to do a variety of roles and do not want get typecasted. I always look for good roles and the recent one that I am playing is the title role of Billoo Barber with Shahrukh. The film is directed by Priyadarshan . It is a sweet story on friendship. After that the film on real life dacoit Pan Singh Tomar with the same name which my friend Tigmanshu Dhulia will direct, is a very good role," the intense actor told a news agency.

So how was the experience working with the Bollywood reigning superstar? "Well the shooting has not started yet."

The actor is, however, not disappointed with the his films like Sunday and Aaja Nachle , which had not done well at box office and says, "My last movie Krazzy 4 has done exceptionally well at box office. The gross revenue in the first week was more than 40 crores, which I think was a record in recent times."

The Bollywood actor, who feels that the foreign films are more realistic as their technique is better, says that there is a whole new interest in Indian actors and they can hope to get more opportunities in films made abroad.

After critically acclaimed, 'The Namesake', where he played an Indian who has migrated to the US, and 'A Mighty Heart' with Angelina Jolie, the actor says that the negotiations are on for more Hollywood films.

"I have just signed a foreign film 'Slum Dog Millionaire' with a UK based director. I have some offers but I will sign after reading the script," Irrfan said.

When asked about the recent trend of filmstars joining television industry, Irrfan, who himself had started his career with this medium, says that boom in the small screen industry is attracting more and more actors to join idiot box medium.

"Look at the popularity and TRPs, it is increasing by the day. Well most of them are doing realty shows as the reach out and the percentage money involvement has increased many fold."

"If some one says that it is for creative satisfaction or because the reach out is huge, he is lying. The ultimate aim is to make money. And there is nothing wrong in that," Irrfan, who has worked in television serials like 'Chanakya' 'Banegi Apni Baat, 'Chandrakanta', 'Star Bestsellers' and 'Mano Ya Na Mano', says.

The actor does not forget to mention that how the on-going India Premier League (IPL) tournament has kept him busy throughout and says that he loved the concept and it is a good thing happened for promotion of the sport.

While adding that there is no favourite team as such, he says "I try to watch every match as I liked the concept and it is very entertaining as well. I hardly get time because of the busy schedule but IPL is on priority list."

For the actor, who likes to get into the skin of the character with adding his own interpretation into it before performing it in front of camera, life has seen a sea change but he says that as a person he has not changed much.

"I still meet old friends of my theatre days. Eat the same food but yes after the busy schedule, I like to spend some time with my family, says the actor who got the National Award for Best Supporting Actor for Metro this year.
