HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | HAPPENINGS Ashutosh Gowarikar wishes to work with Salman Khan06th Aug 2008 09.00 IST By Agencies After working with Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan , acclaimed director Ashutosh Gowarikar now wishes to work with Salman Khan . "It's a long cherished dream to work with Salman Khan. And as soon as I find a script which suits his image, I will approach him," Gowarikar said on the sidelines of World Kids International Film Festival held in the capital recently.
The director has already worked with Aamir in Lagaan which was nominated for Oscar and with SRK in Swades which bagged King Khan the Filmfare award in the best actor category. The director, who is known for making period and issue based films, is trying his hand on comedy for the first time in his upcoming film What's Your Raashi . "I am trying to do something different in the film, which is a romantic comedy," says Gowarikar about his latest movie which stars Love Story 2050 fame couple Harman Baweja and Priyanka Chopra . Though, Harman's debut film sank with out a trace at the box office, the maverick director is all praise for his performance in the film. "I signed Harman because he totally suits the character in 'What's Your Raashi'. Besides, I liked Harman's performance in 'Love Story 2050'. He is a great dancer too," says Gowrikar. Talking about film's leading lady, the director feels that Priyanka's talent as an actress has remained under utilised so far in the film industry. "She is a good actor but I think she has lot more to offer. I am trying to bring something special out of her in my next venture," he says. Gowarikar's 'What's Your Raashi' is based on a Gujarati novel 'Kimball Ravenswood' written by noted author Madhu Rye. "This film is a challenge for me as it is very difficult to make a comedy but I like to face new challenges," says the director. The director says that old comedies directed by veteran directors like Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Basu Chatterjee are his all time favourite films. "I am a big fan of Hrishi da and Basu da. I love to watch Jyoti Swaroop directed 'Padosan' again and again, which remains my favourite comedy film," he says. Asked whether the director has any plans to return to acting, Gowarikar, who is known for his well-researched and creative films, says, "Right now I am not really interested in acting. But, I will consider acting provided a good character is offered to me."
