Delhi girl Ekta Choudhury is Femina Miss India Universe

Pooja Chopra from Pune was crowned Miss India World and Shriya Kishore from Mumbai is Miss India Earth 2009.

The new beauties were crowned by last year's title holders, PFMI World 2008 and Miss World first runner-up Parvathy Omanakuttan , PFMI Universe 2008 Simran Kaur Mundi and PFMI Earth 2008 Tanvi Vyas.


The three Miss Indias were chosen from the 20 finalists from across the country. They faced the common question in the Q&A round: “What was the one thing you would ask God if you met him, and why?”

23-year-old Ekta Choudhary replied she would ask God why do people, if they are all created equal, fight in God’s name. Pune girl Pooja Chopra, 23, responded that she would ask God why certain children were deprived of the love of their mother. Chopra has been raised by a single mom. Mumbai girl Shriya, 22, said she would ask God about mortality and immortality.

Hosted by Malaika Arora and Madhavan , the ceremony also featured performances by Bollywood stars Priyanka Chopra , Kangana Ranaut and Genelia D'souza , choreographed by Shiamak Davar.
