Katrina Kaif was set to perform at this year’s New Year bash in JW Marriott. But after the Mumbai attacks, the lavish party-cum-celebration has been called off.The memory of the recent terror attacks is still too fresh to call for any sort of New Year celebration. And keeping with the prevailing glum mood, actress Katrina Kaif has canceled her plan to perform at the New Year bash at the Marriott hotel. She was reportedly getting paid a whopping Rs. 1 crore for the performance. The New Year eve bash at Marriott is always a grandiose affair. But the recent attacks at Taj and Oberoi Trident hotels have also put a big question mark on the security arrangements of these places. However, there is more than just security concern over the cancellation of the Marriott’s New Year bash. A Marriott official was quoted as saying, “After seeing the recent events, as a mark of solidarity and support, we have decided to call off the New Year celebrations at the J W Marriott Mumbai and the Renaissance Mumbai Hotel & Convention Centre." While Katrina seems in no mood to party, there are others like Bipasha Basu , Mallika Sherawat , Yana Gupta Malaika Arora , Amisha Patel and Rakhi Sawant who might go ahead with their respective shows. |
