Shiney Ahuja sent to judicial custody till July 2

Shiney, whose police custody ended today, was produced before the court in the afternoon but failed to get bail even though his lawyer Shrikant Shivade argued that the actor has co-operated with police and the medical tests have been done and he need not remain in custody to know the results of the tests.

However, the court ordered Shiney to a two-week judicial custody during which the police will gather more evidence through medical and forensic tests.


The actor can still apply for bail and his lawyer Shivade said he would appeal against the court order and seek bail for Shiney.

Ahuja, an established film star, was arrested on Sunday on the charge of raping his housemaid. There have been reports in the media claiming that the actor has confessed to having consensual sex with the maid, but his lawyer, and his wife Anupam, have rubbished it as media speculation.
