Roadside Romeo - Review - Songs - News
View the Roadside Romeo picture gallery Read the Roadside Romeo movie review Album Review -Peppy Puppy Tracks By Usha Lakra A sweet animated puppy-love story directed by Jugal Hansraj, ‘Roadside Romeo’ is first of its kind. The animated movie in collaboration with the giants of animation, Walt Disney, this Yashraj film is banking on its uniqueness and chemistry between Kareena and Saif. The music has hit the stores quite late but how useful it will be to promote the film is questionable. Salim-Suleiman has given the music and Jaideep Sahani has penned the lyrics. The first song is the title track ‘Main Hoon Romeo’ which seems an intro song for the cute puppy named Romeo. The track will make you dance the jive. A very peppy number in the voice of Kunal Ganjawala. The chorus and conversation are incorporated well in the song, making it funny and very lively. The remix version has good beats, making it a perfect discotheque number. Sung by John Stewart and Salim Merchant, this track is much better than the original one with effective use of electrifying sounds. The next number is a sensuous club number ‘Choo Le Lena’ in the sultry voice of Sunidhi Chauhan. A track which ranks high on energy level with Sudesh Bhonsle trying his experimental style of singing, supported well by KK. The remix version ‘Choo le lena-Moonlight remix’, by DJ Suketu, is a fast lounge track. A groovy number which will make you tap your feet or rock the dance floor. ‘Cool-Cool’ is more like a conversation, again with style rendered nicely by Javed Jaffrey, Marriane D’Cruz, Naresh Kamath and Saif Ali Khan. Javed Jaffrey is a master in dubbing. The way he has used his voice in this song is terrific. Overall, the song gels with the mood of the album. It’s peppy and funny to hear. But for the next song Salim-Suleiman tune is a bit repetitive. ‘So Right’ starts very much like ‘Mar Jawaan’ from ‘Fashion’. But the number is rendered well by the husband-wife duo of Kunal and Gayatri Iyer. The number is a romantic track but lacks passion. Lyrics could have been better for a song like this. Next in the line is ‘Rooftop Romance (Instrumental)’ which sounds good to ears with a kind of Spanish touch. The album changes gears with the funny and pacy track ‘Apni Dumm Bhi Oonchi Ho’. It’s a song sung by many singers like Kunal Ganjawala, Earl Edgar, Jugal Hansraj, Salim Merchant and Anushka Manchandani. The song is not that impressive but visually a treat because it features hordes of puppies partying. The ‘Roadside Romeo’ album is set in a very jovial mood going well with the theme of this animated film. Every song is peppy with no serious tunes. ‘Main Hoon Romeo’ and ‘Choo Le Lena’ are fantastic tracks. The songs are for relaxing and to party with such rhythmic tunes.
