Sonal Chauhan Biography

Born and brought up in Delhi, Sonal Chauhan shot to fame by reaching the finals of the Miss India pageant in 2005. It was also the year Sonal won the Miss World Tourism in Malaysia. She was the first Indian to win the title.

Once she was a popular name, modeling offers began pouring in without her asking. Though her parents did not approve of her becoming a model, Sonal pursued her dream and did many advertisements for popular brands like Ponds, Diet Pepsi, Lays, Hero Honda Passion and Nokia. She even shifted to Mumbai to continue her modeling career.

Things took a new turn when Mahesh Bhatt spotted Sonal in an ad. Known for giving breaks to new girls, Bhatt approached Sonal for his movie ‘Jannat’, directed by Kunal Deshmukh.

Though Sonal Chauhan had got acting offers in the past and she had turned them down, the script of Jannat “captivated” her.

The rest, as they say, is history.
