It’s yesterday once more

Somewhere in the hazy corners of our mind there still linger the fond reflections of yesteryear actresses who sizzled the big screen in their heydays.

With age catching up on them they receded into sidelines. Some took pre-mature retirement or espoused the charitable causes while others married and took to homemaking. But today we find them tracing back their footsteps to tinsel town that was once akin to their second home.

When the yesteryear dancing sensation Helen broke her sabbatical and jived her way back in Khamoshi, stealing everybody's thunder, we saw that one may never be too old to shine. Similarly Jaya Bachchan and Raakhee proved that they could still cut highly charged performances despite the years of being off the screen.

The same goes for Rati Agnihitori who after being a non-celebrity for fourteen years, during which she brought up her son, is walking again the glamour path. The lady still brims with unmatched vivacity and is all set to make her second coming with a meaty role in Rahul Rawail's forthcoming desi adaptation of The Parent Trap -- Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi which also stars Kajol and Sunil Shetty.

Following suit is the lesser-known actress Vidya Sinha, who having unfortunately lost her husband Venkat a few years ago is making a comeback to "fill the vacuum".

"I never thought of facing the lens again as I was too busy with my life, my family and my hobbies. But when Rahul ji approached with the role and asked me to give it a thought, I found it very much a possibility," says the still-beautiful Rati Agnihotri.

But did she face any difficulties stepping under the arc lamps after such a long hiatus? "Absolutely not. The minute 'action' was called, the actress in me switched on automatically", she sums up.
