R K Films was never really the same after Nargis left their camp in the late 50s.

A thunderstruck Raj Kapoor took years to come to terms with the blow. He had probably, never imagined that his love saga would end on such a hopeless note. He expected Nargis to comprehend his helplessness, while Nargis wanted to legitimize their relationship.

Nargis wanted a family, children, which Raj Kapoor could not give her because he was already married and a father of a child when their love story started. Days of blatant disobedience to societal norms hadn't set in. Raj Kapoor feared being ostracized by his family, friends and the society in general.

After her heart broke, Nargis married Sunil Dutt and settled down to family and domesticity. Raj Kapoor had three more children and continued to make films, sans the earlier spark though.

The spark surfaced only when he met Nargis at common dos of the film fraternity. The first time Nargis stepped into the RK household after her departure and break-up with RK was at the Ladies Sangeet ceremony of the wedding of RK's second son Rishi Kapoor in 1980. Nargis came but only for a while. She talked to her 'Raju' briefly, smiled and exchanged pleasantries with him and his family, blessed the groom-to-be and left.

Nargis's coming to RK's house after a long gap broke the cold war between the ex-lovers and Raj Kapoor remained happy till his death thinking that Nargis had forgiven him.
