Light-eyed Neha has to her credit plum projects that are the dream of any debutante. Yet success has eluded her. There is no doubting her histrionic skills, but Neha has not had much luck at the marquee.
If there is one film that can pitchfork her into the top bracket, Neha believes it is Prakash Jha-directed "Rahul", which goes 70mm coming Friday. A Subhash Ghai production, "Rahul" casts Neha in a non-glamorous role opposite ramp-walker Jatin Grewal.
In the film she plays Meera, the divorced mother of a four-year old child Rahul, around whom the whole story revolves.
"My role demanded careful preparation. Director Prakash Jha is a man of subtleties and I knew I had to do my best," says the Kareeb girl, convinced that the film will fare well at the box office.
All said and done, Neha deserves full credit for persevering to make her place in the tinsel town without the help of any godfather.
With meaty roles in Mahesh Manjrekar's "Ehsaas" and another film by Anubhav Sinha, we can be sure her best is yet to come. Meanwhile, Neha is keeping her fingers crossed and awaiting the prospects of "Rahul" at the turnstiles.
