A Duet for the Ladies

Here's a tale of two beauties - a starlet and a model enjoined by one destiny in Showbiz. Both known faces despite their nascent film careers living distinct lives, in separate orbits.

It happened once upon a film for the starlet, with an illustrious launch pad. In a literary sense it was her Great Expectations movie, no she never meant to be vitreous, playing the Invisible Woman was not part of the script. But it so happened that her reel-life story had a tragic real-life end. Her Hero Hrithik Roshan walked away with her thunder and the audience-applause.

Now, our Model-beauty who will turn debutante soon, is touted as a woman extraordinaire for she's a juggler who sashays while on the job! So light, so facile is the weight she shoulders like spaghetti straps, she'd like us to believe. Her daunting personas - Doctor, Mom, Mrs. World and now raring-to-go actress!! Perhaps she has taken to heart Oprah's signature tune - '' I'm Every Woman, Yeah That's Me! ''

Here's a duet for the Fair Ladies, you guessed it - Amisha Patel and Aditi Gowitrikar. The former's gorgeous, the latter's a showstopper.

Amisha may have romped home with a Gold Medal in Economics from an American University but she got a raw deal in her very first film 'Kaho Na Pyaar Hai'. Honestly who in Jupiters remembers her in KNPH ? With Hrithik it was a simple case of a total eclipse of the heart.

You'd argue the only thing worse than unwarranted criticism is to be NOT acknowledged at all. It hurts to be the fly on the wall, huh Amisha? Yet, the lady was by no means a bad actress only a mine of promise of things to come. But thankfully she chooses to be cerebral about life's big misses. Her motto is Olympian, her first fall is just a warming up lap of her Bollywood marathon.

As for beautiful Doc Aditi, in the pipeline is her debut film 'Mukt', opposite Rahul Dev, also from her fraternity of models.

She is also a familiar face in the music video circuit. It was her presence in the Asha Bhonsle-Adnan Sami video that gave the love song such fairytale feel.

On the comeback trail an ecstatic Amisha butts in about her new venture 'Gadar' as a movie heading for big innings. Enthused about her second film she recently told a popular daily - ''Gadar is the kind of film which a heroine gets after having been around in the Industry for at least a decade, after having done at least a dozen films. It was quite a challenge being a part of the film. I had to put in a lot of effort - physically, emotionally and mentally....There were scenes in which we were showing winter and it was actually 45 degrees Celsius in the shade. I also had to do a lot of stunts for the film. I had to jump from the roof of one compartment to another on a moving train. As I was running there were bullet shots. Now when I look back I don't have a clue of how I did all this! ''

Amisha apparently also put in a lot of homework like reading up books on Islam, Lahore and the Partition. She also watched a lot of period films besides having long discussions with the director about the script.

The experience she says was like being a student all over again. Her co-star in the film is the fiery Sunny Deol.

Doc Aditi unlike Amisha may appear to be sitting on a fence. Can't help it can she, After all being prosaic comes naturally to a Doctor. So she has meticulous plans for her filmi afterlife with a growing interest in child psychology.

Practising medicine pretty soon is on her agenda, as and when her career span as model-actress whittles.

However before the trickle she has one big dream - to star in a movie opposite the Badshah Shah Rukh Khan himself!

About her most recent Hat of Mrs. World she says trying it out felt - '' Brilliant and I absolutely fell for it. The message for Indian women was don't give up after marriage. A woman can be as beautiful after marriage as she was before, '' says Aditi emphatically.

So to these Fair Ladies - Amisha with 'Gadar' and Aditi with 'Mukt' we hope success plays a duet too.
