Bollywood producer Akbar Khan is planning to make a movie on the royal romance that inspired the Taj Mahal.
The movie, according to Khan, will be the most expensive ever made in India.
Akbar Khan, brother of Feroze Khan and Sanjay Khan, known for his mega historical TV serials, is creating grand sets in an ancient fort in Rajasthan for the 500-million-rupee Taj Mahal-An Eternal Love Story.
The centuries-old Meharangadh Fort in Jodhpur will form the backdrop of the film for which Khan is also building a special set recreating the Taj's original interiors with intricate inlay work, emerald-sapphire-crusted walls and gold and silver doors.
Veteran actor Kabir Bedi will play the lovelorn Shah Jehan while a new face, whose name will be announced at the launch on October 10, will play queen Mumtaz in the Hindi language film, which will also be dubbed in English.
Apart from recreating the original opulence of the Taj Mahal, a technical crew from the United States will help Khan with special effects for scenes showing tens of thousands in battle or working to build the monument.
