Nepalese beauty Manisha Koirala will play Indira Gandhi in a film that is believed to be a biographical sketch of the late Prime Minister.
The film, titled ‘Indira Gandhi – A Tryst with Destiny’, is being produced by Nitin Keni of Gadar fame. Director N. Chandra (maker of films like Ankush, Tezaab and recently released ‘Style’) will wield the megaphone.
Manisha, who is busy making her home production Paisa Vasool, is reported to be upbeat about having bagged the offer to play a role of such importance.
The film, launched on the occasion of the 85th birth anniversary of Indira Gandhi, is based on the script by Kamleshwar, who wrote the script for Gulzar’s Aandhi.
According to the film’s producer, ‘Indira Gandhi – A Tryst with Destiny’ will not allow for any cinematic liberties and authentically tell the life story of the late leader.
Unlike other Bollywood potboilers the film necessitates a “very sensitive handling of the subject.”
