Many actresses were under consideration for playing the heroine in director Ashutosh Gowarikar’s next movie. But it was Rani Mukherji who ultimately bagged the role.
Rani, whose last movie Saathiya had a good run at the marquee, has been snapping some important roles in Bollywood films of late. Recently she was signed to play Aamir Khan’s heroine in Ketan Mehta’s 1857, The Uprising.
And now it is learnt that the comely actress has bagged Lagaan director Ashutosh Gowarikar’s next movie titled Swades.
The film is a period drama starring Shahrukh Khan in the leading role.
It may be mentioned that Rani is also acting alongside SRK in his home production titled Chalte Chalte.
