After her praiseworthy performance in Amol Palekar’s Marathi film Anaahat, Sonali Bendre will be seen acting in her first play in April.
Sonali has conveniently shied away from candyfloss roles after her marriage to filmmaker Goldie Behl. She played the bold role of a queen who chooses to assert her sexuality in critically acclaimed Anaahat. And now she is gearing to make her stage debut with a play called Aapki Sonia.
Scripted by writer Javed Siddiqi, Aapki Sonia will be a sequel to the much acclaimed play Tumhari Amrita that starred Farooque Shaikh and Shabana Azmi.
A new director Salim Arif will direct the play.
While Tumhari Amrita involved reading of love letters, Aapki Sonia will have an exchange of hate mail.
