From the angry young man's image in Zanjeer to the veteran police officer of Khakee , Amitabh Bachchan is now once ready to don the cop's mantle in forthcoming Dev , a film that the mega star described as a crucial project of his life.
Talking to media in Mumbai recently on the occasion of music release of the Govind Nihalani directed film, Bachchan said ''Dev is an important project for me and Govindji has got us do hard work in the movie.'' The superstar said though he had worked with Nihalani for the first time in Dev, he had always maintained a close bond with the 'Ardha Satya' director.
Asked about his role as a cop in several films, Bachchan said there was no specific reason to play police officer on the big screen as he was only driven by good script.
''Dev is a brilliant subject that's why I accepted it,'' the Big B said, who was flanked by actress wife Jaya Bachchan and friend Amar Singh, General Secretary of the Samajwadi Party.
Slated for release next month Dev is a story of two close friends, both police commissioners. It also features Om Puri , Fardeen Khan and Kareena Kapoor in lead starcast. Kareena has sung in the film for the first time.
Nihalani has directed highly acclaimed films like 'Tamas' and 'Drohkaal'.
