After playing a dedicated cop in Khakee , Amitabh Bachchan is now seen playing another coply role in Govind Nihalani’s Dev .
In Bachchan’s opinion his roles in the two film are very different. According to him Dev is more realistic, stark and hard hitting.
In a recent interview to a Bollywood portal, Bachchan said: “Dev is more internal, more intense and perhaps a lot more realistic. It is stark, hard-hitting and deals with those subjects that we perhaps talk about behind closed doors. It deals with the issue of politicization.
The film has Amitabh playing the Joint Commissioner of Police Dev Pratap Singh, a righteous and dutibound officer whose high ideals are not always functional in the corrupt system.
On the other hand is Dev’s friend Special Commissioner Tejinder Khosla (Om Puri) who is a pragmatic person and believes in maintaining a balance between Dev’s commitment towards law and the political interests of the state’s Chief Minister Bhandarker (Amrish Puri).
“It's a story about two people who work for the system but have different viewpoints. But as keepers of the law they need to adhere to the law of the land, the constitution of the country. But as individuals, they also have personal likes and dislikes which conflicts with what the system teaches. That really is the conflict area between these two," says Bachchan.
