SCOOP!! & NEWS Will Abhishek’s jinx of flops end with Phir Milenge and Dhoom?30th Aug 2004 00.27 IST By Nitika Desai It has been quite a number of years since Abhishek Bachchan began his acting career in tinsel town. But unfortunately, he hasn’t yet had a single hit movie to his name. When Mani Ratnam’s Yuva sank down at the box-office, it was clear that stars were not in favor of Abhishek who, however, got praise for his performance in the film. And now, with two simultaneous releases in a week, it appears that end to Abhi’s jinx of flops is near. 
As far as the critical reviews go, chances are more in favor of Phir Milenge doing better at the marquee than Dhoom . The reason is that Revathy’s film has a universal appeal, an interesting starcast (that also includes Shilpa Shetty and Salman Khan ) and a touching story set against the backdrop of the AIDS issue. On the other hand, Dhoom is an out-and-out action thriller with some nail biting bike chases featuring John Abraham and Uday Chopra . The movie will appeal more to youngsters but not to the family crowds. Abhishek himself hopes that both films will be liked by the audience in different ways. Having learned lessons from the past, he is biding his time to see how the two films fare at the box office in the first week. “As an actor I committed myself to both the projects and did my work with passion.
