SCOOP!! & NEWS Hollywood is here, and growing02nd Sept 2004 10.12 IST By ApunKaChoice Bureau Riding high on the success of sci-fi sequel Spiderman 2, Hollywood has not only made its presence felt but has also carved out its own space and is growing more than 30% every year in India, the world's largest movie producing nation. The money-spinner Spiderman 2 smashed all records, raking 28.5 crore, to become the second most popular foreign language movie in India after Titanic, which notched up a whopping 52 crore in India. 
The Columbia Tristar blockbuster, Spiderman 2, released after three weeks of its global premier in New Delhi had cast a web in the opening week itself after it collected 7.75 crore, to become the highest-ever weekend box office revenue earner for a foreign language film and was 46.5% higher than the previous record held by Spiderman 1. But most importantly the webslinger's sequel was running to full houses, breaking records, and collecting money at par with any big Bollywood hit at a time when much talked about Hindi movies like Julie and David Dhawan 's Mujhse Shaadi Karogi were doing brisk business. "India has a very popular and powerful film industry. And India as a market for Hollywood movies is growing every year. There is lot more involvement now with every movie in India. Promotional campaigns, publicity contests have become a part of every big release. It is expected to grow at the rate of 25- 30% per year.
