Shetty – an incurable flirt

No, no we are not talking about Sunil Shetty being an incurable flirt in real life, but the character he plays in his forthcoming film Padmashri Laloo Prasad Yadav.

Now don't jump to another conclusion. It is not a film on the life and times of the Bihar strongman and Railway Minister. Padmashri Laloo Prasad Yadav is a comedy directed by Mahesh Manjrekar and revolves around four central characters -- Padmashri, Laloo, Prasad and Yadav.

Laloo, played by Shetty, is an incurable flirt who always forgets that he has a girlfriend Padmashri, played by actress Mausmi. She had earlier starred in films Chupke Se and Maqbool . Manjrekar acts out the role of Prasad, who is a lawyer while Johnny Lever is Yadav, a local goon.

Manjrekar, who has also lent his voice to a solo number in the film, says it was for the first time in the history of cinema that four actors will have lead roles.

The film is produced by Manik Bedi. Manjrekar says, ''Laluji's sense of humour inspired us to adopt the title and he was kind enough to grant permission to lend his name and support for the film''.

Shetty says he was excited with his new ''cool dude look'' in the film. ''I worked with Mahesh earlier in Kaante as a co-star and in Ehsaas as the lead actor. I had no idea however, that the maker of sensitive films like Nidaan, Vaastav and Astitva has a flair for comedy'', he says.

Padmashri Laloo Prasad Yadav is slated to be released this month.
