Reel heroes meet real soldiers at Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan… music launch

The music release of Anil Sharma’s war drama Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo saw the stars of the movie sharing the stage with real-life war veterans and soldiers.

At an elaborate music launch of the film’s songs in Delhi on Monday, September 20, its stars Akshay Kumar , Bobby Deol , Ashutosh Rana , Danny Denzongpa , Sandali Sinha and newcomers Kapil Sharma and Divya Khosla mingled with war veterans from the 1971 Indo-Pak war – Major General Ian Cardozo, Colonel V N Thapar and Lieutenant Colonel Inder Singh.

Also present on the occasion were recently released PoWs (who were previously declared deserters) Lance Naik Jagsir Singh and Sapper Arif Mohammed.

Anil Sharma , the director of the movie, said that Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo is not anti-Pak film. He said the movie is essentially a love story set against an army background. The movie, he added, is also the story of a family, covering a period of more than three decades from 1971 to 2004.

Also starring Amitabh Bachchan (who wasn’t present at the music release) in a stellar role, ATHWS marks the debut of 20-year-old Delhiite Divya Khosla who plays a Rajasthani girl in the film. The role was originally meant for Aishwarya Rai.

The music release function of the movie was organized by All India Anti-Terrorist Front at Vigyan Bhawan where the former President of India Mr. R.Venkatraman released the album. Later, in the evening, a party was held at The Metropolitan Hotel Nikko where former Deputy PM L K Advani was the chief guest.
