'Giggly' Ash turns her charm on Letterman

Three days before the premiere of her movie Bride and Prejudice in the US, Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai got introduced to America on Tuesday night through her interview with David Letterman on the Late Show.

There was a mixed air of assurance and nervousness about Ash as she made her big appearance on America's second-ranked late night talk show.

Dressed in a short black dress, a brown leather jacket and black boots, Ash gave flashes of her charm, interspersed with lots of giggling. She sounded fairly confident while replying some question, while she fumbled and looked confused at others queries.

When asked about the Indian family values she intelligently said, "you don't have to take appointment to have dinner with your parents." She talked about Indian films with equal élan, saying that most of the Indian movies were musicals, which in a way represented Indian culture and tradition of celebration.

However, a weaker side of Ash was exposed when she looked clueless to Letterman's question - "Did you see the Happy Days reunion?".

At another point, Ash fumbled when Letterman asked her about how she got her first job. She looked nervous, muttered a few words and shot back a question at Letterman "how did you get into this?"

Despite all the downers, Ash still gave a fine display of her charm when she subtly took a flirtatious turn - putting her hand on her chin and gazing directly at Letterman, who looked visibly disarmed by her trick.

All in all, for Ash it was a good introduction to America. But she can certainly do away with those giggles.
