Aishwarya Rai starrer Bride and Prejudice has been chosen to kick off the third Eilat International Film Festival in the southern Israeli coastal town, with the organisers trying to bring the star herself to liven the proceedings.
"We have been trying to bring Ash to Israel for the festival but haven't been able to work it out yet. Her presence will the give the fledgling cine industry in Israel, and the festival itself, a big boost", a spokesperson for the festival, Chen Sadan, said in Jerusalem.
The Indian community in Jerusalem is thrilled at the prospect but slightly disappointed at the non-inclusion of any Indian film.
"Sounds unbelievable that Aishwarya could be here. It will be the icing on the cake", said Sanjay Gupta who works in the hotel industry.
Some 5,000 Indians are said to be working in the hotel industry in this major tourist attraction on the Red Sea coast with the Israeli Hotel Association instructing its members last year to prefer Indians over other nationals.
