SCOOP!! & NEWS Sunny Deol provided security following cinema blasts23rd May 2005 19.37 IST By ApunKaChoice Bureau After two blasts at Delhi theatres that were screening the movie Jo Bole So Nihaal, its actor Sunny Deol has been provided with adequate security. Although it is still not clear whether Jo Bole So Nihaal was the target of the blasts (as there was another explosion this morning on a railway track in Delhi), cinema owners and distributors are not taking any chances and have withdrawn the movie from theatres.
The film shows Sunny Deol as a Sikh constable Nihaal Singh who goes to New York to catch a dreaded terrorist. The movie’s title and certain scenes in it (showing Sunny with skimpily clad girls) have evoked strong protests from various section of the Sikh community. The Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC), the governing body of Sikh shrines, had demanded that the movie's title be changed and the title song withdrawn. Even as the real reason behind the Sunday’s blasts is to be ascertained, Sunny Deol has been provided adequate security. A senior security official is quoted as saying: “Security has been provided to Sunny Deol and a high alert sounded at all cinemas across the country screening the movie.” Officials believe that the blasts were aimed at scaring away prospective viewers from cine theatres.
