As a tribute to the deceased actor-politician Sunil Dutt , a Russian television network will telecast his film ‘Mother India’ over the weekend.
Made by filmmaker Mehboob in the year 1956-57, Mother India was the movie that established Sunil Dutt as an actor to reckon with. In the film, Dutt plays a short tempered, angry youngster named Birju.
Interestingly, actress Nargis – whom Dutt married after this movie – plays his mother in the film.
‘Mother India’ will be shown by 'Rossiya' TV over the weekend.
The network’s original plan was to telecast Ramesh Sippy’s Sholay but changes were made in the schedule following the unexpected demise of the versatile actor and Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister on Wednesday.
