Shah Rukh Khan films are drawing huge crowds at an ongoing film festival in Poland.
This year’s Cieszyn Film Festival in Poland features five blockbusters starring Shahrukh. The movies, screened every evening at 10 p.m., are attracting many Polish movie buffs apart from the Indian diaspora there.
Films like Kal Ho Na Ho , Kuch Kuch Hota Hai , Main Hoon Na and Dil Se are going down well with the young crowds particularly. Reports say that the crowd starts dancing and clapping the moment the song and dance sequences begin in movies.
In fact, the tremendous response to SRK’s movies in Poland has prompted Roman Gutek, the distributor of Shah Rukh's films at the festival, to release these movies in theatres throughout Poland now.
“The response is so overwhelming, it is beyond my comprehension,” Gutek is quoted as saying.
Earlier this year, a subtitled version of SRK’s movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham was released in Poland. The movie ran for two months in Warsaw.
The festival, being held in Cieszyn town, began on July 21 and will end on July 31.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdaas will also be screened at the fest.
Other Indian films at the festival include Mira Nair’s ‘Salaam Bombay’, Sayajit Ray's critically acclaimed ‘Apu trilogy’ (‘Pather Panchali’, ‘Apur Sansar’ and ‘Aparajito’), Raj Kapoor’s ‘Awara’, Guru Dutt’s ‘Pyasa’, Mrinal Sen's ‘Ek Din Pritidin’, Buddhadeb Dasgupta's ‘Mondo Meyer Upakhyan’, Murali Nair's ‘Pattiyude Divasam’ and Arvind Sinha's ‘Kaya Pooche Maya Se’.
