When Meghna Naidu became a victim of Peeping Toms

She may set the male tongues wagging and the screen on fire by gyrating her voluptuous booty on screen, but Meghna Naidu paid another heavy price recently for her sex-symbol image.

Just last month we told you that Meghna had to register a complaint in a police station in Mumbai after she and her boyfriend, hotelier Raj Shetty, were abused and threatened by four hooligans.

And now Meghna has experienced another horrific incident, which shows the heights to which her sex-symbol image has been taken by fans. The incident occurred in Ahmedabad where Meghna had gone for a show.

A report in a leading newspaper has Meghna saying: "I was getting ready in a temporary green room that had been created using curtains. While I was applying make-up I felt as if someone was watching me. I looked around but found nothing. I continued with what I was doing but could not get rid of the feeling that somebody was prying on me. This time I looked harder and was horrified when I discovered that some youngsters had made a small hole in the curtain. They had been watching me through this."

Although Meghna would like to believe that the peeping toms didn't get to see her in a state of undress, she admits can't be sure.

"I don't know how long they had been spying on me. A little earlier I had also changed my clothes in the same dressing room. But I think they had only just started watching me when I caught them, so hopefully they were not there when I undressed. Thank God I was only doing my make-up at the time I found out what was going on. But what if I had been changing? I immediately called the organisers and raised the issue with them," says a distraught Meghna.

Meghna feels that it is unfortunate that the public has started taking her celluloid image a little too seriously.

"This has not happened to me for the first time. Often fans become unreasonable and expect something that is unrealistic and stupid. We expose in front of the camera but that doesn't mean we will go around exposing everywhere," she says.

Meghna feels that such shameful incidents will keep on happening till people learn to distinguish between reel and real life.

"Even in functions and parties we are expected to behave like we do in our films and songs. This is something that hurts me deeply. We portray a character on screen and therefore have to dress and act in a certain way. If we expose, it is because the script demands so. But why should that make anyone jump to the conclusion we enjoy doing the same in real life too?" she fumes.

This is the same Meghna who said she relishes the sex-symbol tag adding, "I made my debut with Hawas . The film did well and it gave me a sexy image. At that time it was the trend to expose in Bollywood and that is what I did. Now people think of me as a sex symbol, what's wrong in it."

Now, after the Ahmedabad incident, perhaps Meghna has come to know what really is wrong with it.
