Asha Parekh, actress of many romantic flicks of the 60s and 70s, began her Tuesday, last week, not knowing the nightmare that lay ahead in the day. 
She, along with another veteran actress Shammi, went out for lunch with friends and on their way back the two got stuck in the car as water level rose waist high on Mumbai roads after the worst rainfall the city has witnessed in the last 100 years. In an interview to IANS, Asha Parekh recounted her ordeal: “Yes, Shammi aunty and I were stuck in my car for 15 hours without food, sleep and barely enough water to moisten our lips... Our car was stuck in traffic for the entire night. There was no movement and we couldn't step outside since there was waist-deep water outside.” “I wondered if we would ever get out of the car alive. Was this really the Mumbai I had grown up in,” said the actress who was born and grew up in Mumbai. It was only on the next day, Wednesday, when Ms Parekh was able to return home safely. However, this ordeal has cemented her faith in the resilience of Mumbai as a city. “Though I was caught in a nightmare, I think I now have more faith in Mumbai's powers of resilience than ever before,” Ms. Parekh is quoted.
