Bollywood’s action hero Akshay Kumar is the latest Bollywood celebrity to feature on NDTV programme Jai Jawan.
As a part of the programme, Akshay went to meet Indian soldiers in the Firozpur District of Punjab, close to the Pakistani border. Akshay spent one and a half days with jawans.
Akshay says he had gone to Firozpur expecting to see a lot of Punjabis. However, he was introduced to the soldiers of the Maratha Regiment.
Akshay had carried with him videotaped messages to these soldiers from their families (an arrangement facilitated by NDTV) and these messages were re-played before the soldiers, leaving many of them in tears.
Akshay instantly struck a remarkable camaraderie with soldiers. He spoke with them in Marathi, shared meals and jokes with them. On the fun side, a small party was organized in which Akshay and many soldiers danced to the songs from his films. He also participated in the tug of war game with jawans.
The actor also had a chance to meet toughest commandoes and discover their arduous lifestyle and workout regimen.
The programme will be aired on NDTV channels on August 13, 14 and 15.
