HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | BOLLYWOOD Bachchan did it for friend22nd Sept 2005 21.20 IST By Aparajita Ghosh Superstar Amitabh Bachchan says he did Dil Jo Bhi Kahey because of his “good friend” Romesh Sharma, who is the producer and director of the movie. The movie, slated to hit the theatres on Friday, is the launchpad of Romesh’s son Karan Sharma into Bollywood. It is a sensitive love story about two lovers who come from very different social and cultural backgrounds.
Amitabh Bachchan plays Karan’s father in the film. Revathy plays Bachchan’s wife. As the story goes, Karan goes abroad to study and there he falls in love with an English girl. British beauty Annabelle Wallace plays Karan’s love interest in the movie. The remaining story is about the opposition the two lovers face from their respective families. When asked by a website as to what made him do this movie, Bachchan said the movie’s producer-director has been his good friend for a long time and he did it for him. “We have been friends for a long time and our relations are very good. He is a professional producer and when he asked me to play this role, I agreed,” Bachchan is quoted as saying. Bachchan added that the movie’s hero Karan Sharma was born in front of him. “He (Karan) is a young lad who has done exceptionally well in the film considering that it is his debut,” Amitabh said of Karan. Bachchan is hopeful that the movie’s story, its Mauritian setting and its lilting music will go a long way in ensuring its success at the box-office.
