HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | BOLLYWOOD Salman-Akshay face-off this festive season07th Oct 2005 10.40 IST By ApunKaChoice Bureau Two films starring Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar in the lead roles would be vying for the public attention this festive season when Diwali the festival of lights coincides with Eid, the day the holy month of Ramadan ends. Both the films, drastically different from each other, have two things in common. They both are directed by Priyadarshan and both star Bengali hottie Rimi Sen . 
The films are Garam Masala and Kyunki . While ‘Garam Masala’ is a hilarious comedy, ‘Kyunki’ is a sensitive love story. ‘Garam Masala’ stars Akshay, John Abraham , Paresh Rawal , Rimi and three newcomers Daisy Bopanna, Neetu Chandran and Nargis in the roles of airhostesses. ‘Garam Masala’ has Akshay, engaged to Rimi, but a born flirt that he is, he convinces each of the three girls (the airhostesses) that she is the one and only one for him. John plays Akshay’s friend-turned-foe always threatening to reveal Akshay’s secret to his fiancé and Paresh plays the cook whose main job is to ensure that none of the three girls (the airhostesses) come to know of each others’ existence in Akshay’s flirtatious life. ‘Kyunki’ is based on the Malayalam movie 'Thalavattam'. Apart from Salman and Rimi, ‘Kyunki’ also stars Kareena Kapoor . The film holds a lot of interest for the viewers for they would get to see the pair of Salman and Kareena for the first time onscreen. The film also stars Jackie Shroff . ‘Kyunki’ has Salman playing the male protagonist who is accused of the murder of his wife and is declared mentally unstable. Apart from these two big movies, also slated to release this Diwali are David Dhawan ‘ Shaadi No. 1 – a multi-starrer starring the dashing Sanjay Dutt , Fardeen Khan , Zayed Khan , the buxom Ayesha Takia , Esha Deol , Soha Ali Khan , Sharman Joshi , Ria Sen , Sophie Chaudhary, and Aarti Chhabria . Ayesha also stars in Home Delivery , a Sujoy Ghosh film that completes the Diwali quartet, making sure the weekend will see audiences having to choose between comedies. Vivek Oberoi plays hero in a film with the effervescent Boman Irani and Mahima Chaudhary . Details of the film's story are yet to be disclosed, but it's set to be a dark romance, with liberal doses of laughs. It's rumoured to have 21 songs with one of them sung by Boman himself. So, gear up for the festive season with Bollywood.
