At a press conference for 'Water' Deepa said that she would make her next film titled 'Komgatha Maru' with John if he was willing.
According to John, "Deepa narrated the script idea and I loved it. If things and my dates work out, I'll definitely do the film. Believe me when I say this is going to be a huge film."
‘Water’, which was premiered in Toronto in September, is set in India in the late 1930s when the practice of child marriage was still prevalent. Young girls were often wed to older men for economic reasons. When the men died, they left behind young widows who were farmed out to ashrams.
‘Water’ stars John as an idealist law graduate, and follower of Mahatma Gandhi's ‘Quit India Movement.’
The film has John ignoring the cultural taboos and fulfilling his desire to marry a young widow played by Lisa Ray .
Meanwhile, John’s first comedy Garam Masala is all set to hit the theatres this Diwali.
