While the gullible public and Aamir Khan fans sat and wondered about the release date of Rang De Basanti , thanks to the frequent postponements, the makers are smiling.
Reports are that the makers had always planned to release the film around Republic Day. The reason was obvious.
The tools in the media helped further in creating the hype and buzz, with all the problems and hic-ups (some genuine and others intentional), being blown out of proportion.
Reports quote a source as saying, Rang De Basanti could have easily been released this week, as all the so-called clearances and certificates were obtained last weekend itself. But doing that meant that Aamir could not have undertaken the pre-planned whirlwind campus tours."
As may be recalled, even Aamir’s last movie 'Mangal Pandey - The Rising also had almost a dozen release dates after the first promos.
But it was released on the Friday before Independence Day.
Rang De Basanti is carrying extremely good reports and while Aamir has given another classy performance, Madhavan has surprised many in a cameo.
The movie is all set to have a bumper opening next week.
