The new award is being introduced by Sony Entertainment Television Fair One in association with the Filmfare Awards, to be held on Saturday, at MMRDA Grounds in Mumbai.
Vidya Balan may be the favorite one for the award. She has got critical acclaim for acting in her Bollywood debut movie Parineeta . And she has already bagged the STAR Screen Award in a similar category.
Ayesha Takia, another promising newcomer of the last year, gave sensitive portrayal of a young girl in love in her films like Socha Na Tha and Home Delivery . She also showed her flair for humour in Shaadi No. 1 .
Katrina Kaif, too, stands a good chance of winning as she was seen in two important movies last year – Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya and Sarkar .
Chances for Tanishaa are slim as her movie Neal 'N' Nikki was a disaster at the box-office. Even her other movies Popcorn Khao! Mast Ho Jao and Tango Charlie did not have good run. But her nomination in the category is recognition enough.
Sneha Ullal, famous for her facial resemblance to Aishwarya Rai, was notable enough in Lucky – No Time For Love . It remains to be seen whether she can outshine other strong contenders like Vidya and Ayesha at the award ceremony on Saturday.
Speaking about the award, Anuj Saxena, director, marketing of the company that manufactures the Fair One fairness cream, is quoted as saying: “This award has been instituted to acknowledge the face that epitomises beauty and strong character.”
The Filmfare award show will be telecast live on Sony TV at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
