The fourth Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) will begin on April 19.
IFFLA is the only prominent film festival entirely dedicated to presenting Indian cinema in the States.
This year’s fest will open with Deepa Mehta’s movie ‘Water’ and pay a tribute to actor Naseeruddin Shah with the screening of movies that feature some of his best performances.
Naseer’s latest movie ‘Parzania’ will have its world premiere at the fest. The film, directed by Rahul Dholakia, is said to be inspired by a true story related to communal violence. The film also stars Sarika and American actor Corin Nemec.
Naseer’s other movies ‘Manthan’ and Monsoon Wedding will also be screened. And on April 21, there will be a 30-minute conference with the actor.
The festival will also honour sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar with the LA Philharmonic Lifetime Achievement Award.
Other movies to be shown at the fest are Pradeep Sarkar's Parineeta and Anurag Kashyap's ‘Paanch’.
The five-day festival will close with Rajat Kapoor's marital comedy ‘Mixed Doubles’.
