The ongoing International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) weekend in Dubai has seen announcement of several new projects.
Actor-filmmaker Feroz Khan , his son Fardeen Khan and music director Anand Raj Anand held a press conference at the IIFA festival in Dubai to announce their film Kurbani , a remake of Khan’s own hit movie Qurbani from 1979.
At the press meet, a pepped up version of the title song Qurbani Qurbani from the new movie was played and a teaser of the old movie was screened. After that, Feroz Khan formally announced the movie’s modern remake.
Khan said although the basic story of ‘Kurbani’ would be the same as the original, the film’s setting and look will be very contemporary. He said the film would be shot in India, Bangkok, Dubai and Mauritius.
The film will have Fardeen Khan playing the role enacted by Feroz Khan in the original. Khan senior himself would play the cop, played by Amjad Khan in ‘Qurbani’. Earlier, Saif Ali Khan was short-listed to play the movie’s second hero but now Feroz Khan has to look for a replacement. Two actors are still to be finalized for the project.
Apart from Feroz Khan, filmmaker Sanjay Gupta has announced five new films at IIFA. The films are : Dus Kahaniyan (ten short films to be directed by seven directors), Chamki Chameli (to be directed by Shyam Benegal ), Shootout at Lokhandwala (Dir: Apoorva Lakhia ), Woodstock Villa (Dir: Hansal Mehta ) and Alibaug (Dir: Sanjay Gupta).
