Sushmita Sen plays a unique role in Tanuja Chandra’s film ‘Zindaggi Rocks’. The film is a love story between a rock singer and a doctor.

Her worn-out jeans, the tattoo on her arm, the bracelets on her wrist, the six-string in her hand: all make Sushmita Sen pass off convincingly as a rock singer. But ‘Zindagi Rocks’ is not just about music. It is a film about human emotions. It is a love story between two very unlikely people from different backgrounds.

The film, written and directed by Tanuja Chandra, stars Sushmita, Shiney Ahuja , Kim Sharma , Moushmi Chatterjee , Seema Biswas, Ravi Gosai and child artist Baby Julian.

Sush plays Kriya, a talented, charming, attractive woman and a singer who lives life on her terms. Shiney Ahuja plays Suraj Rihan, a shy, reserved, workaholic doctor.

Dr. Rihan and Kriya meet in a hospital on a rainy night. She’s quite the antithesis of him - he is quiet, she is loud, he is introvert, she is outspoken.

Kriya’s friendliness soon rubs off on the reticent doc and he is compelled willy-nilly to meet her mad family.

As much as he resists, he finds himself being swept by this tidal wave of friendship and fun.

Kriya has a smart son of 12 years, a stern mother and a loving Mausi (both roles played by Moushami Chatterjee).

Rihan and Kriya fall in love. But situations take such a turn that their love and commitment to each other is tested. Rihan and Kriya both face crises. Will their love eventually triumph?

‘Zindagi Rocks’ tells the story of love, compromise, emotional turmoil, generosity and sacrifice.

Kim Sharma plays Sushmita’s manager and friend in the film. Child artist Baby Julian plays Sush’s son.

Sushmita truly had a rocking time while shooting for this film. First she gelled really well with her co-star Shiney Ahuja. After working together for just few days, Sush and Shiney shared such a rapport that she began to fondly call him “jaaneman”.

On another occasion, while shooting for a soft rock song in the movie, Sush got so excited that she went overboard with her head-banging act and sprained her neck. She was bedridden for days after that.

Sush also had an encounter with a snake on the shooting sets of the movie. One day, the entire crew of the movie went berserk when a snake showed up out of nowhere on the sets. While everyone was scared, Sush maintained her calm and offered her prayer to the snake.

‘Zindagi Rocks’ being a musical love story, the music is the soul of the film. Anu Malik has composed the movie’s songs while Sayeed Qadri and Muddassar Aziz have written the lyrics. The songs have been sung by as many as six singers: Tulsi Kumar, Sunidhi Chauhan, Javed Ali, Zubeen Garg, Krishna and Anushka Manchandani.

‘Zindagi Rocks’ has been made under the banner of BAG Films. The film is set to release on October 6.
