A great thinker can get inspired by little happenings around him. And the same happened with Bollywood’s talented filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar .
Bhandarkar’s walk from Bandra to Siddhivinayak temple was enough for him to discover the subject of his upcoming movie Traffic Signal .
The film is a dark comedy based on the lives of people living around traffic signals on the streets of Mumbai. Flower venders, newspaper boys, beggars and prostitutes are among the characters in the movie.
After exposing the lives of the rich and elite in his two previous movies ( Page 3 and Corporate ), Bhandarkar found it befitting to explore the struggles of the laity on the streets to complete his film trilogy.
And the idea cropped up in his head while taking a walk from Bandra to Siddhivinayak temple. During his walk, the observant filmmaker noticed a life that was different from normal lives that became an inspiration for him.
“I noticed this different world in which people waited for signals to turn red and rushed on the street with their activities,” Bhandarkar is quoted as saying.
