After a flourishing career in modeling, Prashant was thinking of settling down in Los Angeles when he got a call from Ram Gopal Varma . The filmmaker had dropped his blue-eyed boy Mohit Ahlawat from his ‘Sholay’ remake and was now hoping to cast Prashant in the role of Jai in the movie.
To Prashant, the news was more than a pleasant surprise. At that point in time, he was planning to pursue a career in events and advertising as a liaison officer. And then suddenly he found the door to Bollywood open ajar for him. Prashant clinched the opportunity. Stepping into a role that was once played by Amitabh Bachchan was no easy task. But Prashant accepted the challenge, knowing well that there would be comparisons and criticism. “I am a movie buff but I never imagined myself choosing an acting career. And not in my wildest dreams had I thought that I would enact Jai in the Sholay remake,” says Prashant. The 29-year-old is glad that Jai in Ram Gopal Varma Ki Sholay is very different from the one in Ramesh Sippy’s timeless classic. And Ramu is said to be happy with Prashant’s performance in the portions he has shot for the movie so far. Prashant is optimistic that this movie will be a fit launch for him into Bollywood. Even his girlfriend, his family and his 90-year-old grandmother are ecstatic about the sudden turnaround in Prashant’s life.
