Amitabh Bachchan looks for some hidden goodness in criticism

Bollywood mega superstar Amitabh Bachchan says that he has never been immune to criticism and looks for some hidden goodness in it.

Bachchan added that he is always open to criticism of his work because he believes it can help him improve.

“Yes, criticism is hurtful at times,” Bachchan was quoted as saying in a leading newspaper on Friday.

“I digest criticism. I'm never immune to it,” he said. “There is some hidden goodness in which we must all search.”

Bachchan, 63, is no stranger to criticism – he's been dealing with it since first emerging as a movie star in the 1970s and since then has been acknowledging more accolades than criticism.

Bachchan recently recited poems for the first ever full-fledged Rabindranath Tagore song album in Hindi titled ‘Mere Man Dhadkan Mein’ (Rabindra Shraddhanjali).

The album, directed by Ujjwal Chatterjee, features Ashmit Patel and Rituparna Sengupta. It consists of ten songs and has been rendered by Indrajit Dasgupta who is an officer with the Indian Revenue Service department.

With his flair for literature and poetry, Bachchan has taken up the cause of popularising the songs and compositions of Rabindranath Tagore beyond the boundaries of Bengal and Bangladesh.

The songs have been shot at the scenic locales of Satara and have been choreographed by Mahadevan. The album has lyrics by Javed Akhtar , Shaheen Iqbal and Rahjesh Johri.

This is the first time that an effort has been made by director Ujjwal Chatterjee to popularise Tagore songs throughout the country.

Dasgupta has clarified that the lyrics of the songs selected by him are not verbatim reproduction of the original Tagore songs, but the compositions have retained the essence and refreshing flavour of Rabindra Sangeet.

Dasgupta says about working with Bachchan, “Bachchan saab has a majestic personality. He is a noble person with a very large heart.”
