HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | BOLLYWOOD British viewers to decide Shilpa Shetty's fate26th Jan 2007 16.57 IST By Agencies British viewers who backed Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty when she faced racism on Celebrity Big Brother will decide her fate again today as her name came up for eviction along with four others after the show producers mistakenly misled the audience into thinking they favoured her. In the midst of a voting storm, the reality TV show's producers Endemol were forced to scrap all votes cast since Wednesday night when the lines opened for today's eviction after appearing to favour Shilpa by flashing "save" along with her number in graphics on the screen. 
The Bollywood star was one of five contestants in line for the boot. Phone numbers to evict her four rivals were shown in graphics on screen. A show spokesman said it was a "genuine mistake". Endemol said, "We will reimburse anyone who wants their money back and all profits will go to charity." The four other contestants up for eviction are Dirk Benedict, Jo O'Meara, Ian Watkins and Cleo Rocos. One viewer said: "When you looked at the screen there was no way that you could vote Shilpa out. It made you wonder whether Channel 4 had done it on purpose to try and save her." Meanwhile, director Shashilal K Nair, with more than 10 films to his credit, said he planned to produce a box-office blockbuster with Shilpa and her tormentor Jade Goody as protagonists. Nair, whose films include the controversial 'Ek Chhotisi Love Story', said "I have a script which I would like to cast them in. I can't reveal much about the plot but it is quite funny and they would be the main protagonists." Related Shilpa Shetty |
