Bollywood star Tabu says she wants to make people laugh after spending years making people cry.
The talented actress is known for serious, strong character roles in Indian cinema.
Tabu also plans to write a Hindi-language film script.
``There's truth, there's connection in writing in your own language,'' she told a newspaper in an interview recently. ``I want to write about the importance of having a good childhood.''
Tabu is associated with several children's charities that look after the welfare and education of orphans and street children.
Tabu also said that she loved comic movies so much that she was keen to act in one.
``I love watching comedies. I become an embarrassment in theaters - I fall off the seat laughing,'' Tabu said. ``I've made people cry enough. Now I want to make them laugh. I want to do a comedy.''
In her recently released movie The Namesake , Tabu plays a young immigrant bride who learns to live in a foreign country.
The movie about an Indian family coping with living in the United States is based on a novel written by Jhumpa Lahiri, the Pulitzer Prize-winning Indian-born American author.
Tabu’s next film scheduled to release is Cheeni Kum , in which she stars opposite Bollywood mega superstar Amitabh Bachchan .
