HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | BOLLYWOOD Sanjay Dutt has an emotional parting with sisters31st July 2007 21.33 IST By Aparajita Ghosh Before he was sent to Arthur Road jail today, Sanjay Dutt had an emotional parting with his two sisters Priya and Namrata. The last time when Sanjay Dutt got out of jail after serving 16 months behind bars in October 1995, he had said that his prison term made him realize the importance of his family. “Family is the only one who stands by you in happiness and in problems,” Dutt had said back then.
Over the period of so many years when the Mumbai serial blasts case was being tried in the court, Sanjay Dutt’s two sisters and his late father stood by him firm as a rock. And today when the special TADA court announced its verdict in the case, sentencing Dutt to 6 years of imprisonment, the actor asked the judge P.D. Kode for permission to meet his family before being sent to jail. As there was no objection from the public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikkam, the permission was granted. Dutt’s sisters Priya and Namrata and their husbands Owen Roncon and Kumar Gaurav (they were staying at a nearby hotel) reportedly came to meet Dutt before he was sent to the barracks of Arthur Road Jail. Reports say that the meeting lasted about half an hour during which Dutt and his sisters became very emotional. Sources say Dutt broke down as he talked with his sisters. The actor also said that he missed his father, the late Sunil Dutt , terribly. Dutt is reportedly being kept in barrack number 10 of the jail.
