While shooting for her film ‘Marigold’ in India, American actress Ali Larter fell in love with the country, its people and their traditions.

In her own words, Ali Larter had “the best time of my life” shooting for Willard Carroll’s Hollywood-meets-Bollywood movie Marigold – An Adventure in India (Don’t miss the images).

Much like her character in the film, Ali had a wonderful time while she was in India. In the beginning, the traffic and the noise of Mumbai put her slightly off. But when the movie’s shooting began and when she shot a schedule in Rajasthan and other small towns, Larter got to see another side of India that she fell absolutely in love with.

Larter was particularly fascinated by the diverse culture of India. She was also struck by the vibrant colours that people wear in Rajasthan.

Calling her Indian experience “an absolutely extraordinary journey”, Larter told a website: “I really just fell in love with the country...I was able to experience different cultures within India and was totally blown away by the spirit of the people, the generosity they showed and the vibrant colours which women wear.”

In fact, Larter became very fond of a bridal, embroidered Lehenga that she wears in a sequence in the film. She even asked the director Willard Carroll if she could take the lehenga with her to the US after the shooting got over. However, Carroll wanted to keep with himself all the costumes and small props used in the film, so he politely turned down Larter’s request.

Another thing Larter became fond of was Indian food. She loved curry and rice. Many times she even shared her co-star Salman Khan ’s homemade food.

‘Marigold’ tells the story of an American actress who comes to India to shoot for an English film, which, unfortunately, gets shelved. Stranded in an alien country, she takes a role in a Bollywood movie. During the making of this film, she meets her choreographer Prem (Salman) and falls in love with him.

The film hits the theatres on August 17.
