Bhool Bhulaiyaa : some interesting tidbits

Many interesting incidents took place during the making of this Friday’s release Bhool Bhulaiyaa .

The movie, a remake of the Malayalam film ‘Manichithrathazhu’, stars Akshay Kumar , Vidya Balan , Shiney Ahuja , Amisha Patel , Paresh Rawal , Manoj Joshi, Rajpal Yadav and Asrani.

The film is set in a small town where people are extremely superstitious. Shiney and Vidya play a married couple who come from the US and reside in their ancestral haveli which is believed to be haunted by ghosts. Akshay Kumar plays an eccentric psychiatrist who tries to solve this mystery.

RESEARCH

Akshay did a lot of research to understand paranormal phenomena and human psychology to prepare for his role. He studied about mental illnesses like multiple personality disorder, split personality, disassociative amnesia, and identity disorder etc.

A HEADLESS APPARITION

While shooting the film at the royal Chomu Palace near Jaipur, the film’s unit encountered some strange happenings in the palace. The locals had told the film’s unitmembers that the king of the palace was beheaded in a battle and his horse brought the headless body back to palace. This story spooked some people in the film’s crew. Some unitmembers claimed they saw a headless apparition moving about in secluded areas of the palace.

AKSHAY, A NON-BELEIVER

Akshay Kumar apparently does not believe in ghosts. “For me, God is the only superpower and creator of miracles,” says Akshay.

The actor adds that he has never seen a ghost in his life, but he did hear about a three-headed female ghost who would roam around the area where he used to stay.

WHEN SHINEY SPRAINED HIS BACK

During the shoot, while filming a romantic scene with Vidya Balan, her costar Shiney Ahuja got carried away and lifted the actress in his arms. But the act only left him with sprained back. However, Shiney later said that he did not regret lifting Balan in his arms. “If I have to do it again, I would do it happily,” Shiney said.

AMISHA PATEL, A FOODIE

Amisha Patel showed a very different side of her while working in this film. During long schedule in Rajasthan, Amisha took along with her several ingredients to make her favourite bhelpuri and sevpuri. And whenever she made bhelpuri for herself in the evening, co-stars Paresh Rawal and Manoj Joshi would have water in their mouths.

Thereafter, Amisha began giving the snacks to co-actors and crewmembers.

‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ is a psychological thriller with doses of comedy. The film hits the theatres on October 12.
