Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan turned 42 today.

SRK has a huge fan following from Mumbai to Manhattan and from Bangalore to Boston. Born on November 2, 1965 in New Delhi, he came to Mumbai and made his debut in TV serials like 'Fauji' and 'Circus'.

In a career spanning nearly two decades, SRK has re-written box office records with films such as Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997) and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) to name a few.

SRK never harped about a positive image for a leading man and did negative roles in films such as 'Anjaam', 'Darr' and 'Baazigar'.

The King Khan has won 13 Filmfare Awards (out of which six in Best Actor category), ten Rupa Cinegoers Awards, six Star Screen Videocon Awards, six Sansui Viewers Choice Movie Awards, four Zee Cine Awards, four People's Choice Movie Awards, three IIFA Awards and three Zee Gold Bollywood Awards.

SRK was conferred with the Best Indian Citizen's Award in 1997. In 2002, he was given the Rajiv Gandhi Award for Excellence in the field of Entertainment. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2004.

His charisma, wit and intelligence make SRK stand apart and his humility has endeared him to the masses. No wonder, in a short span SRK has become a phenomenon. And now he is set to charm movie buffs with his much-awaited Om Shanti Om .

SRK, who has specially cultivated six-pack abs for the film and even gone shirtless, is fiercely promoting the film and says it will compete with the year's best and the film that had himself in the lead role Chak De India – that has been the only super hit of the year.

"I'm very competitive. I compete with myself. I don't look at anyone; I just look straight. I don't even watch films which don't star me," SRK, who reportedly earns a mind-boggling Rs 247 every minute, has been quoted as saying.
